The teacher selection committee is chosen each year per the NHS policy. We follow the guidelines in place for this national organization. Student applications are evaluated on 4 categories--Leadership, Character, Scholarship and Community Service. This process is very serious and the task is taken very seriously by the anonymous committee. Students must have a 3.0 GPA to be in the pool of candidates--it is not a group "just for the really smart kids". NHS is for students that are well-balanced, leaders in their school and in the community, have great character, and have community service in a variety of areas (school, community, church, etc.). There is no definite number of students that can make it, nor is there a minimum/maximum number to accept. Please see Article IX from the NHS Handbook .

As the advisors, we have no say in who is selected. We create the forms, copy and hand out to teachers, and sit in the meeting for selection.

The 2023 Candidate Form (in DOC) must be completed electronically. Make sure you use save as so you can continue working on the form. You must be at least a sophomore and have at least a 3.0 GPA. When you are finished, print the form and take the page for community service hours around for signatures. This all needs to be completed BEFORE February 15, 2024.

Appointments available for those who would like to have their NHS application reviewed prior to the due date. Contact Mrs. Spencer in the Administrative Office to schedule a time.
